This one is dedicated to all of my product junkies. Nail polish, like many other beauty products we’ve grown up with unfortunately have chemicals and toxins we so desperately try to rid ourselves of. Sadly, no one ever stops to really think about what we put on the outside of our bodies. Talk about a real nail biter. We’ve often heard the phrases “three-free, five-free,” and even, “seven-free”. The three most common toxins in nail polish are dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (found in plastics- think of your shower curtain vinyl), toluene (found in gasoline), and formaldehyde (a known carcinogen). All great for your skin to absorb- major sarcasm included.

But the good news is that most consumer-available nail polishes like OPI, Essie, American Apparel, and Sally Hansen are all three-free.

However, why stop there? For the even better news Chanel, Givenchy, Butter London, and Deborah Lippman not only say goodbye to the main three toxins but also kick out many other toxins making them five or seven-free (depending on which brand you use). Turns out we really can have vinyl-shower-curtain-shine nails without all of the pollutants included.
