Forgive its scientific name but hyaluronic acid is something that we’re seeing a lot of in 2017. The vast majority of us would like our skin to be softer, smoother, less lines or signs of premature or occurring aging, and to be completely honest, the list goes on. However, it’s time to look within our own skin. Hyaluronic acid isn’t an actual acid- it’s sugar and is a component of our skin. It encompasses the skin’s connective tissues and has an enormous level of moisturizing properties, which carries up to 1,000 times its weight in water molecules (basically acting as a huge sponge). In recent studies hyaluronic acid forms have been shown to create a significant decrease in the depth of wrinkles (up to 40%), skin hydration (up to 96%) and skin elasticity/firmness was enhanced (up to 55%) in only 8 weeks. Talk about great numbers without undergoing a procedure.
